Oh give me a home...

Guess what I got to see today?!

That's right! We spent the day exploring local farms as a part of the annual Kaw Valley Farm Tour. Of course the highlight for me were the bison! Alice was also especially enamored with them:

She cried when we left. And said "bye bye buff" all the way to the next farm.

Where we met...

The alpacas. Which were Aidan's favorite:

And our final stop was Pendelton's Country Market Farm:

where Aidan and I did the "no left turn" maze. We only made it out with help:

It was a perfectly Kansan way to spend a crisp autumn Saturday!

A little preview...

I haven't decided yet whether this one will be going in the shop or staying on my wrist, but I most definitely will be making more of these. What I really wanted was a version with wider leather, but this was what I had on hand last night:

Over six feet of sterling chain, leather, and stone. Can also be worn as a necklace (wrapped twice and left long, or wrapped three times for a shorter style).  Now that's versatility, baby!

Yesterday, a certain someone brought it to my attention that I don't have the story of the name "Buffalo Lucy" anywhere on my site... So, I have remedied that and you can now find the story (or non-story, as the case may be) behind my moniker in my About section.

I'm off to bed. Night-night!

Welcome Autumn!

One new item, in celebration of the autumnal equinox (already in the shop!):

Rusticated sterling silver bangle with charms of carnelian, aventurine and hematite.

And a couple of scenes from the backyard where Lilah was getting into mischief and picking baby pumpkins from the patch!

Happy first weekend of fall!

Oops!

So I didn't get to my shop update on Saturday. We had a busy but fun weekend. And last night I got to see my "one" band. You know, the one band, that if they came through town, you wouldn't miss for anything. The one band for which you'd be willing to pay exorbitant ticket prices (thankfully my one band isn't all that popular so that wasn't an issue). The one band that sums up your musical taste perfectly. The one band that if you had to pick one band to listen to for the rest of your life, they'd be it:

Built to Spill are mine. Who's yours?

I was saying to Stephanie that one of the best parts about going to a concert now is that since having kids I rarely make time to turn the music up loud or put on a set of headphones and just listen, just let myself be in the music. Music is so often just a part of the background. A soundtrack. But at a concert I get the chance to close my eyes and let the music take me over.

It was fabulous.

Anyhoo... I'll be adding the latest ring to the shop this evening but I probably won't get a chance to finish and list the other pieces I've been working on until later in the week (I have a sociology exam tomorrow! Eep!).

Hope your Monday is musical!
