I'm deep in the mire of papers and exams as the spring semester comes to a close so I don't have much to share with you this week...  however, I WILL be opening my shop as soon as school is out!

Some of the items you see here plus a few surprises will be making an appearance...

I'll make a formal announcement with a specific date next week! (don't forget to join my email list if you want to receive Buffalo Lucy news in your inbox)

In addition to writing papers and studying for exams, I've also been working on a little something for my mom. Of course I can't show pictures here until she gets it. No peeking, mom!

And on a non-jewelry-related note, we went on our annual excursion for flowers for our porch pots over the weekend. Unfortunately the weather (and our schedules) have been uncooperative so we haven't gotten to pot them yet. I'll be sure to take pictures when we do. Flowers=happiness.

Alright, back to the books...

Map of the World

What a lovely weekend! On Saturday one of our daughters' favorite people came over and took the girls downtown for Earth Day festivities... which allowed me to finish this:

I love this stone. It's a gorgeous blue Chinese Turquoise with black matrix that makes you feel like you're wearing an ornamental (though slightly inaccurate) version of a map of the world around your neck. A pretty pink tourmaline compliments the focal stone and both are set in oxidized sterling silver. The chain has a lobster claw clasp, is fully adjustable, and is punctuated by a bead of rhodochrosite. I am once again left with the feeling that this just might be my favorite piece so far. How am I going to part with these?!

Speaking of parting with my work, I am getting ready to announce a date for the grand opening of my shop. I will not have as many pieces as I'd like to open with, but I'll start with what I have and then you can look forward to frequent shop updates as I create new pieces. I just have to work out a few details and then I'll update with the big news.

The rest of the weekend was as delightful as Saturday. Yesterday we all ("we all" includes Lilah the skinny brown dog and Spooky the cat-who's-not-really-a-cat) took an evening walk through our beautiful historic neighborhood. Who couldn't love Lawrence in the spring?! The walk was followed by a surprise tea party, hosted by the lovely Ms. Aidan and complete with place cards and party favors.

We made the fuzzy little puppies on Friday evening.

Yep. I have it pretty good.

She loves me... she loves me not...

As promised, I have goodies for you! Well, just one for now. But more on the way...

Chrysoprase, amethyst, and sterling silver. Oxidized for character and to bring out the details. Each piece sawn and filed by hand.

I love this one.It just might be my favorite so far.

The details remind me of petals. The kind you'd pluck while chanting, "he loves me... he loves me not." Foxy said it makes her think of a propeller; at the ready to lift your soul. Either way, I like the imagery.

Don't go too far away. I've got a Chinese Turquoise necklace and some earrings in the queue.

Big Sister

Since I introduced Alice in my last post, and I have this lovely picture of big sister Aidan (I think she was absorbing super powers from the spring breeze), I thought it would be a good time to introduce you to the smartest 7 year old you'll ever meet:

I'll have to post another next week after she gets her new glasses! She also got her hair cut into a cute bob since I took this picture just a few days ago.

New jewelry to come over the weekend!

Happy Friday Duckies!

Baby tested... and approved!

What better way to keep a baby occupied while waiting on fish tacos? (Mmm... Esquina!) Well, give her some jewelry to play with of course!

This is Alice. Playing with Stephanie's necklace:

Those of you considering  a Buffalo Lucy purchase in the future (when am I going to get that darn shop open, anyway?!) will be happy to know that my jewelry stands up to being baby-handled--even by one who thinks that, "Alice, don't drop that on the floor..." is the beginning of a very funny game.

In other news... I'm official! Or I should say, Buffalo Lucy is official! I registered the business with the state of Kansas yesterday. I'm  a business owner!! Woo-hoo!

I will have more finished pieces to post in the very near future. It's been a  busy work and school week but I've got things coming. And I promise they'll be worth the wait.
