Big Sister

Since I introduced Alice in my last post, and I have this lovely picture of big sister Aidan (I think she was absorbing super powers from the spring breeze), I thought it would be a good time to introduce you to the smartest 7 year old you'll ever meet:

I'll have to post another next week after she gets her new glasses! She also got her hair cut into a cute bob since I took this picture just a few days ago.

New jewelry to come over the weekend!

Happy Friday Duckies!

Baby tested... and approved!

What better way to keep a baby occupied while waiting on fish tacos? (Mmm... Esquina!) Well, give her some jewelry to play with of course!

This is Alice. Playing with Stephanie's necklace:

Those of you considering  a Buffalo Lucy purchase in the future (when am I going to get that darn shop open, anyway?!) will be happy to know that my jewelry stands up to being baby-handled--even by one who thinks that, "Alice, don't drop that on the floor..." is the beginning of a very funny game.

In other news... I'm official! Or I should say, Buffalo Lucy is official! I registered the business with the state of Kansas yesterday. I'm  a business owner!! Woo-hoo!

I will have more finished pieces to post in the very near future. It's been a  busy work and school week but I've got things coming. And I promise they'll be worth the wait.

Spring, please save us from the flu!

Since Thursday, every member of my household except for me has come down with a fever. My 7 year old, Aidan, is next to me now coughing up a lung and just sighed, "It's so hard to live with this." No, she's never dramatic.

Needless to say it's been a slow week in the studio. But I do have one simple ring to share with you...

Sterling silver (but of course) and a gorgeous pillow of lavender charoite.

I have another Sociology exam tomorrow but I'm hoping the rest of the week will allow me some time in the studio to finish up the other two pieces I've been working on. I really can't wait to share them with you!

In the mean time, please send some healthy spring vibes our way...

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday! Sadly, Mom's all the way in Alberta while I'm here in 2000-mile-away Kansas. But Stephanie and I ate chocolate fondue with strawberries and bananas and blackberries and angel food cake in her honor. Mmm... birthday.

Love you, Mom! Wish we could have spent it with you. We're counting down the days until August! xoxox

I put in a couple of hours in the studio last night but ended up scrapping the piece that I was closest to finishing because it wasn't quite right and despite my most earnest of filing efforts, it wasn't going to be right. So, I'm starting over. I have another piece that is close to completion and one other that is in its infancy. I hope to have all three finished by next week.

In other news, have I mentioned my business cards? I'm so excited about them. They arrived a couple of weeks ago. And no, I haven't even opened my shop yet. But I've already had people asking about my jewelry when I'm wearing it out and about so I wanted to have something to give them. They're MOO mini-cards and I couldn't be happier with them:

Pretty snazzy, aren't they?

In shop news, I'm hoping to be up and running in a couple of weeks. For those of you who are already on my mailing list you'll be the first to be notified. For those of you who aren't... Join my mailing list!

PS. It's an email list as opposed to the Pony Express type. Thanks for pointing out my omission, Mel!

Illness and Inspiration

I have no new pieces to share with you as of yet, BUT I am working on some that I am very anxious to finish and show you! I went to a gem show over the weekend and came home with some inspiring goodies:

However, it's spring break and the kids are out of school (and daycare), my oldest is sick, as is the lovely Foxy... so I haven't had much studio time since bringing home my treasures. But just you wait! You're going to love what's coming.
