Letting Go

Once again, it's been about a lifetime since I last posted. There is just always so much going on and even though writing and blogging feel important to me, they rarely make it to the top of the list. Sometimes I feel like there is SO MUCH I want to get done that I start to feel a little panicky about the fact that there will never be enough hours in the day to make all of the things, write all of the words, take all of the photos, read all of the books, appreciate all of the art, AND be the best parent and partner that I can be. And then I just have to take a deep breath, let it all go, and remember that there will be the time that there is to do what I can do and that will be enough. Instead of panicking about the things I'm not getting to do, I need to LET GO, SLOW DOWN, and ENJOY the things I am doing.

Like moving into a brand new studio, ALL MY OWN, and making pretty things out of silver. That's right - March of this year I moved out of my shared space and spread my wings into a space all my own. It's been a bit of a secret dream since I started this little venture five years ago to have my very own studio space to do with as I please, and now it's a reality! I've been waiting to take photos of my new studio until I put the final touches on the space, and that's taking a little longer than expected, but it's coming along! In the meantime, if you're local, feel free to come by and see me at the Old Beaumont building, Studio 5! Here's a sneak peek:

And here are just a few of the new items I've added to my online shop since moving into the new space:

There's plenty more, but this is getting picture heavy, so stop by the etsy shop, or the shop link above to see what else is new! I'm adding new work on a pretty regular basis these days so don't forget to follow me on FB and Instagram for the latest. xo

All moved in and back at the bench!

Oh dear lord, it's good to be back to work!

I was so afraid that I'd get back to my bench and not remember how to do anything, or worse, not have any ideas! But that has not been an issue. I've really only been at it two days (between the late school start here and sick kids and sick mommies and a lovely visit from my parents and various other obstacles to getting moved in to my studio, I didn't get to finally sit down for a full day of real work until this past Wednesday -- and then of course the kids were off school on Friday!), but I can already tell that this is going to be a really productive space for me. The energy is just right and it feels so...
GOOD!

I've reopened the shop, but so far with just a few of my made-to-order listings (Wedding Bands and Simple Dimple Earrings). I hope to have a pile of one-of-a-kind pieces finished and ready to list within a week or so. I'm working on several rings, some earrings and a couple of necklaces. Can't wait to hold some finished pieces in my hands again!

And yes, the few of you who have been patiently waiting for me to finish up custom work will be hearing from me this week (your stuff is there in that pile, I promise!). If you've paid a deposit, I'm on it. If we've just talked about custom work, you might want to contact me again as it's highly likely I've forgotten what we talked about at this point. ;)

The best news of all is that the kids are doing great at their new school. I mean really, really great. It couldn't be going better if Stephanie and I had scripted it. So thank you to all of my friends and family and fans who sent us love and prayers and positive thoughts because it's working.

First Days

We're settling into our new routine here at the Buffalo Ranch. Alice started school.
Real school.
In an actual school.
With buses and classrooms and older kids and everything.

She's doing great!

She wouldn't stand still for the standard I'm-in-my-backpack-standing-in-front-of-the-front-door photo, so I had to catch her on-the-go. Here she's showing Mama a stick that she found. You can see that she's also carrying the ever-present pig. She actually leaves him... uh, her--the original, male, anatomically correct pig was lost on vacation and has been replaced by this female, anatomically correct pig--in the car without complaint when we get to school.

Alice's first days of school also mean my first days on my new studio schedule. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love it. I get to spend about three hours in the morning working in my studio and then I go pick up Alice from school, we have a lovely lunch together, she goes down for a nap, and I get to go back to my studio.
When nap time is over, we play for a little bit, go pick up big sister from 3rd grade (she wouldn't stand still long enough for a picture either!) and play some more.
Bliss I tell you!

I know it's been a while...

But I think I can make it up to you!

I have a bunch of goodies to share with you today. Finally! I've been a little under the weather the last week, and I'm still working on catching up, but I did want to try to get some of these things posted, lest you think I've abandoned my little ol' blog.

First of all, I've been a busy beaver in the studio. I added these to the shop today:

Carnelian (swoon!) cabs set in rusticated sterling silver (what else?!). I love these even more than I thought I would. The color is amazing and the weight of them is somehow pleasant. Not the kind you'll forget you're wearing but you just might smile a little as they swing to-and-fro beneath your lobes. ;)

AND

Just in time for the holidays, Buffalo Lucy is now offering Gift Certificates!

AND

I haven't forgotten about List it Tuesday! Here's this week's list (click for a bigger version):

So THERE!
