My Winter Song to You

Last winter Stephanie put this beautiful song by Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson on a CD that she made me (oh yes, the mix-tape is still very much alive! At least it is in our relationship. When life and housework and parenting and work get in the way and we don't get the same chances that we used to tell each other how we feel about each other, a carefully curated selection of songs goes a long, long way. ♥ )

Anyway! Last winter Stephanie put this Winter Song on a CD she made for me. We were having a particularly rough year (it had been a year since Alice was born; having a baby is hard enough on a couple but having one with uncertain medical and developmental issues adds stress on top of stress) and the song made my eyes well up with tears every time I heard it. The hopefulness of it. The acknowledgement that the good stuff might be buried under a foot of snow but spring is coming and our love will see us there. I'm telling you, it made my heart swell every time.

I got a new CD for Christmas. And I'd made one for her a few months before that. So we've been listening to those and I haven't played the one she gave me last year for a while. Then today I stumbled across this on Pixie Campbell's blog:

OMG! How have I not seen this before now?! Breaks my heart it's so sweet!!! Is love alive? Oh, you bet!!

Here's to a love that sees you through the rough winters so you can truly appreciate  spring.

Big Sister

Since I introduced Alice in my last post, and I have this lovely picture of big sister Aidan (I think she was absorbing super powers from the spring breeze), I thought it would be a good time to introduce you to the smartest 7 year old you'll ever meet:

I'll have to post another next week after she gets her new glasses! She also got her hair cut into a cute bob since I took this picture just a few days ago.

New jewelry to come over the weekend!

Happy Friday Duckies!

Spring, please save us from the flu!

Since Thursday, every member of my household except for me has come down with a fever. My 7 year old, Aidan, is next to me now coughing up a lung and just sighed, "It's so hard to live with this." No, she's never dramatic.

Needless to say it's been a slow week in the studio. But I do have one simple ring to share with you...

Sterling silver (but of course) and a gorgeous pillow of lavender charoite.

I have another Sociology exam tomorrow but I'm hoping the rest of the week will allow me some time in the studio to finish up the other two pieces I've been working on. I really can't wait to share them with you!

In the mean time, please send some healthy spring vibes our way...

Oh my goodness!

I can finally feel spring around the corner!! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed our uncharacteristically wintery winter (I am Canadian, after all!) but I'm more than ready to shed my sweater and feel the warmth of the sun again! Even my coffee is decked out for spring today (thanks DizzlePop!).

It's been a busy school week  (I had two papers due, the last of which will be handed in in 3 hours) so I haven't had any time in the studio since I finished Foxy's necklace. (I also haven't gotten a picture of said  necklace on the Foxy neck.) But I am itching to get back to it! Hope to put in a few hours over the weekend and come out with some new finished pieces to share.

Happy Friday, Daffodils!
